Why do patients visit the site?
Patients usually arrive with three questions: does this doctor treat my problem, can I trust them, and how do I get in touch? A good doctor’s website answers all three from the first screens, in plain and clear language. Showy animation or long introductions should never get in the way of those answers.
Core content that builds trust
- The practitioner: name, title, education, specialism and professional memberships, with a real and current portrait.
- Treatment pages: a page for each treatment, covering who it suits, how the process works and frequently asked questions.
- The process: step by step, from the first consultation to follow-ups.
- Patient information articles: clear answers to the questions patients actually ask. They build trust and are the strongest way to appear in search.
- Locations and days: if the doctor works in more than one place, which day they are where must be clear.
Mind healthcare advertising rules
In many countries, including Turkey, how healthcare professionals promote themselves is limited by regulation and by professional bodies. Patient reviews and ratings, promises of results, superiority claims such as “the best”, and before-and-after images can all cause problems. On the EKA project we therefore built trust not through testimonials but through the design itself, transparent information and plain language, and stated everywhere that images are illustrative and content is not a diagnosis. Always check the current rules in your country and those of your professional body before going live.
In healthcare, trust is built not by promises but by openness, consistency and care.
Booking and contact flow
The route to getting in touch should be single and short. Long forms, especially on mobile, make people give up. On the EKA site we used WhatsApp messages pre-filled with the treatment name instead of a form: whichever treatment page the patient is on, a message about it is ready with one tap. Whatever method you choose, the contact button should be easy to find on every page.
Findability: local SEO
- Google Business Profile: a complete profile with address, opening hours and the right category is decisive for searches like “orthodontist near me”.
- City and district: the places the doctor works should be stated clearly on the site.
- Treatment pages: each treatment needs its own page to rank for searches such as “clear aligners” or “orthodontics for children”.
- Structured data: schema markup for the practitioner and medical services helps search engines and AI tools understand the information correctly.
- Consistency: name, title, address and phone number should be written identically on every platform.
Personal data and privacy
Health data is a special category of personal data. For every piece of information collected through the site, the privacy notice, where explicit consent is needed and where the data is stored must be clear. Collecting as little as possible reduces both legal risk and patient hesitation. Cookies and analytics should run only with consent.
Design: away from cold clinical visuals
Healthcare websites often look the same: clinical blue, stock photos, graphic tooth icons. A visual language that reflects the practitioner’s personality and approach makes them more memorable and more trusted. For EKA we used burgundy and warm off-white instead of clinical blue, editorial photography instead of sterile shots, and crystal 3D renders; the site became part of a brand system that started with the logo.
Checklist
- Are the practitioner’s name, title, education and memberships clearly stated?
- Does every treatment have its own page and FAQ?
- Is the contact route one tap away on every page?
- Does the content follow healthcare advertising rules (reviews, promises, superiority claims, before-and-after)?
- Are the privacy notice and cookie consent in place?
- Do the Google Business Profile and the site show identical details?
- Is the site fast and readable on mobile?
Conclusion
A good doctor’s website is not a brochure but a hub of information and contact where patients can decide with confidence. A site that is compliant, transparent, easy to reach and findable in search grows the practitioner’s brand independently of where they work.
At SOART we work with doctors and clinics on everything from brand identity and websites to SEO and social media. You can see the full EKA project on its case study page, or get in touch about your own site.
